The rules for using the Noor Hidayah app and website.

The service

Noor Hidayah is an app and a website that guide pilgrims through Umrah and Hajj: the rituals step by step, duas with audio, prayer times, the Qibla, offline maps and emergency numbers, and, for pilgrims who travel with a tour operator, the group's itinerary, announcements, chat and SOS. Operators run their groups from a dashboard on this website.

These terms are an agreement between you and SOSA, the company named on our company page, which runs Noor Hidayah.

Who may use it

Pilgrims whose tour operator registers them, and anyone who downloads the app for themselves. Your operator's own terms cover your trip; these terms cover the app and the website.

Staff accounts on the dashboard are for an operator's staff, invited by that operator.

Not an emergency service

The app says, beside its emergency numbers: "Noor Hidayah is not an emergency service. These numbers connect you to the local services only."

The SOS button tells your group leader and your operator that you need help. It does not call the police, an ambulance or any other emergency service, and it may not reach anyone without a network. In an emergency, call the local emergency number yourself.

The numbers are in the app under More, Emergency numbers, and on our support page.

Religious content

The ritual guide, the duas and the other religious content are reviewed by the founders of Noor Hidayah, and each ritual step and dua lists its sources. Content still under review is marked as a draft in the app.

Noor Hidayah does not claim religious authority and gives no religious rulings. For a question about your own situation, ask a qualified scholar.

If you find a mistake, tell us through our support page.

Noor Hidayah Plus

  • Plus is a pass for 60 days. It does not renew: when it ends, nothing more is charged, and you may buy another.
  • You buy it in the app through the App Store or Google Play, which takes the payment at the price the store shows.
  • Refunds are handled by the store under its own rules: ask Apple or Google.
  • A pass belongs to your account, so you can restore it on another phone signed in to the same account.
  • Pilgrims registered by their operator are never asked to buy Plus.

Using chat

Group chat and direct messages are for the people travelling together. Do not post anything unlawful, abusive, hateful, sexual or threatening; do not harass anyone, share another person's personal details, advertise, or pretend to be someone else.

Personal details are taken out of messages automatically. You can report a message or block a person. Reports are reviewed, and a message or an account that breaks these rules can be removed or suspended.

Anywhere in Noor Hidayah, do not try to reach data that is not yours, disrupt the service, or copy its content to sell.

Ending your use

You can stop using Noor Hidayah and delete your account at any time, in the app under More, Settings, Account, or on our account deletion page. A Plus pass ends with the account.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms; where we can, we tell you why. Your operator may remove you from its group.

Liability

We work to keep the guidance accurate and the service running, but prayer times, maps and directions are guides, and the service may be unavailable, for example without a network. Check important times and places with your group leader.
